Quite eccentric - as it's reputation. Had to see it to believe it, and it lived up to every expectation. Be prepared to be accosted by the owner, but give as good as you get - he enjoys it. Excellent food, good choice of real beers, and amazing wine list - as enjoyable to read as to drink.

I enjoyed being there, the place is pleasant and appealing.
The rooms were newly remodelled with required things, like central heating, an iron and a work desk. The location was stunning and peaceful, within walking distance of Church of st Andrew.

The hotel was in an excellent location near river. The staff and owner could not have been more friendly and efficient. We stayed an extra day and both rooms we stayed in were were roomy and well appointed. Enough room for everyone unlike other hotels. Would recommend it to everyone.

An extremely comfortable large room with sofa. Plenty of space to relax. Very helpful and friendly staff who did everything to accommodate what I wanted. Couldn't have had a better menu choice - I think I could have asked for what I wanted and the hotel would have done their best to meet my request. Particularly liked the swimming pool although very few people were using it whilst I was there. Little concerned that 1984 had arrived in that there was a cctv camera overlooking the swimming pool which the notice said was there so that reception could see when the swimming pool was being used. Is the logical extension of this that there will be cctv in rooms so that reception know if guests are in their rooms or not?
Too many notices about the hotel which made it feel like an institution. The wine list was unnecessarily complicated unless you were a wine expert. When I asked for the wine list I was given 4 large folders - I just wanted a straightforward list. When I choose a wine the owner said he would not recommend that wine as it was of poor quality - why was it on his wine list? I don't think the owner appreciated that not everyone was a wine connoisseur but just wanted a fairly decent bottle of wine as a relaxing drink at the end of the day.

Large well equipped room, warm swimming pool and lovely breakfast.A Very comfortable base to explore surrounding country (Stratford,Warwick,Broadway and North Cotswolds etc).
The mattress on the bed was hard!,though this was rectified by having a mattress topper of foam sponge fitted.

The quirky garden with whale bones added a good touch to our stay.
The evening menu was more limited than expected.

Friendly staff, amusing quirkiness with the bear theme. Adequate car parking and room size, good location for visiting the Cotswolds. Unfortunately the town itself had little to offer which is sad considering its location by the river.

Food was a good standard. Dining room was good and staff attentive
Not too keen on the teddy bear theme for pretty much everything. Not really the thing for business users, more suited to families I feel. Room facilities adequate, but tv was a bit battered. I would recommend a proper chair in the room rather than a stool as this would be better and more comfortable for working.
